Description
This is the drawing steps of my artwork below
========
Steps:
1. Sketch. Sketch the pose and composition.
2. Lineart. I use Mapping Pen brush from MangaStudio (size 10 in A4 300dpi canvas).
3. Base Color. Fill in base color on separated layers.
4. Shading. I shade (with 1 shading colors) on new layer above the base colors. After that I lock the layer then add another darker color. Above the shading layer sometimes I add multiply layer to give gradient.
5. BG + Lighting + Glow.
First I draw a simple BG which is a random sakura tree, I also give the tree a texture.
Then for lighting, I add a dark purple multiply layer on character then erase it little by little. The bright base color will make it looks like a light.
After that I give some glow (using add(glow) & glow dodge) here and there + some overlay until I satisfied with the variation of the colors.
6. Lineart Mod + Finishing. Add some petals & dust. Apply a grunge texture (overlay) then I adjust color balance & level a little.
*lineart modification: I duplicate the lineart twice so i have three lineart layers and set it as (from bottom to top):
a. multiply, dark purple, 60% opacity;
b. multiply, dark purple, 60% opacity (i blur this lineart using gaussian blur 20);
c. overlay, fairly bright orange, 90% opacity.
The eyes & eyelashes lineart was still separated and in a normal mode.
*throughout the steps, I often fix some mistake + adjust the hue, saturation, and luminosity.
Software: MangaStudio EX 5
Drawing Tablet: Genius G-Pen F509
I hope it's useful <3

This is VERY usefull, probably the best process explanation for shading I have seen so far. Is going to be a huge help for me with adding light and shadow to my next piece.
